Laura Todd had been back from Iraq for several months when she started to believe she was losing her mind. She got confused while trying to do basic, everyday tasks, such as tying her shoes and cooking dinner.
She also was plagued with headaches.
“It was very frustrating, and at first I didn’t know what was going on,” said the retired Army sergeant. “It took them a while to diagnose it. One doctor thought it was (post-traumatic stress disorder). Finally it was a psychiatrist who diagnosed it, who said, ‘What I think you have is (traumatic brain injury).”
